Post Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Therapy (1 Year)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Therapy is a one-year program designed for individuals with a background in BS Emergency Care Technology, BS Health Technology, BS Intensive Care Technology, or BS Anesthesia Technology. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant work experience or certifications. The diploma is being conducted in collaboration with the Health Services Academy in Islamabad.


SCOPE

The aim of this two years programme in dental surgery assistant is to equip the student with relevant professional knowledge, skills, techniques, and ethical values to enable them to apply their acquired expertise at the level between the doctor and the patient for efficient Health services delivery. The programme is recognised by and affiliated with Faculty of Paramedical and Allied health Sciences (FPMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. 


Fee Structure

The course structure includes two semesters, with a semester fee of PKR 60,000, amounting to a total of PKR 120,000. Enrollment is free of charge.

  • BS Anesthesia Technology 

Preference will be given to those with relevant work experience or certification.

Semester -1

1). Introduction to Respiratory therapy (3+0):

Course Content:

  • Roles and scope of respiratory therapy
  • Patient safety
  • Infection prevention
  • Patient hygiene
  • History & Physical examination

2).  Pulmonary Anatomy & Physiology (3+0):

  • Anatomy of respiratory system
  • Physiology of respiratory system
  • Lung’s mechanics (Volumes and Capacities)
  • Gaseous exchange and transport of respiratory gases
  • Spirometer

5). Arterial Blood Gas Analysis and Patients monitoring (2+1):

  • Acid base balance
  • ABGs taking and interpretation.
  • Vitals monitoring and their impact on respiration.
  • Invasive monitoring devices insertion technique (Arterial line, CVP line)
  • Airway assessment (predicting tests)

5). Patient transport (3+0):

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

To apply, obtain the admission form from the Student Affairs Office at Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences (RCAHS). Complete the form and submit it along with the required documents to the Student Affairs Office, 5th floor, Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences, Phase 5, Hayatabad Peshawar, Pakistan. 

  1. Admission form is available at Student affairs office Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences. 
  2. Form duly filled with attached complete set of Documents to be sent to Student affairs office, 5th floor, Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences, Phase 5, Hayatabad Peshawar Pakistan. 
  3. Checklist of Documents (attested photocopies) to be attached with Application Form 
    1. Secondary School Certificate (Matric) and intermediate certificate along with detailed Marks Certificates from Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education /Equivalence certificate form IBCC Degree/Transcrip in Emergency Care Technology/ICU Technology/Anesthesia Technology/Healthcare Technology 
    2. CNIC of Applicant and father /guardian. 
    3. Copies of all experience certificates 
    4. Domicile certificate 
    5. 2x recent original passport size photographs 
    6. NOC from Institute of Current employer
