RCAHS Partners With Rescue 1122 To Boost Emergency Response Training
Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences (RCAHS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rescue 1122 in a move aimed at strengthening clinical training and emergency response preparedness among its students.
Under the agreement, RCAHS students will receive structured instruction in first aid, fire safety awareness, basic life support (BLS), trauma life support (TLS), and patient evacuation and transport. The programme blends classroom-based learning with practical exercises, designed to equip future healthcare professionals with the ability to respond swiftly and effectively to a range of medical and safety emergencies.
A key feature of the partnership is a structured placement scheme for students in the college’s Emergency Technology programme. From the fifth to the eighth semester, these students will undertake one-month clinical or field rotations with Rescue 1122 each semester. The rotations will place them alongside professional responders, providing direct exposure to real-time emergency medical care and rescue operations.
College officials said the collaboration is intended to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and field readiness. “Our aim is to ensure that graduates leave not just with theoretical understanding, but with the discipline, composure and practical skills to work effectively in high-pressure environments,” an RCAHS spokesperson said.
Rescue 1122 officials welcomed the agreement, noting that the training would enhance the capacity of young professionals to contribute to emergency and disaster response systems nationwide. “These are the skills that can make the difference between life and death,” one senior officer commented.
The initiative aligns with RCAHS’s broader commitment to producing healthcare professionals of high calibre, capable of meeting both national and international standards in allied health and emergency care. It also reflects a growing recognition of the need for formalised, hands-on emergency training within Pakistan’s medical education sector.
